Monday Ruling to Determine if Gachagua's Impeachment Met Constitutional Standard
A three-judge bench at the Nairobi High Court—comprising Justices Eric Ogola, Anthony Mrima, and Freda Mugambi—is now delivering its ruling on a petition filed by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. In his submission, Gachagua argued that his ouster from office in October 2024 was unconstitutional. The verdict comes nearly 20 months after his impeachment.
The former Deputy President is challenging the legality and constitutionality of the impeachment process, arguing that he was denied a fair hearing and that the proceedings failed to meet the constitutional threshold required for his removal.
