UASU has opposed plans by Moi University to declare 75 permanent lecturers redundant, demanding the notices be withdrawn and an independent audit conducted. The union warns the layoffs could worsen staffing shortages, increase workloads and disrupt teaching, examinations and postgraduate supervision. UASU has given the university seven days for consultations, warning of possible industrial action if the dispute remains unresolved.
