A joint security operation in Kisumu has resulted in the arrest of two suspected gang members and the recovery of several items believed to be connected to criminal activities.

The operation, conducted by detectives from the DCI Operations Support Unit (OSU), Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) and GSU Tactical Team, followed intelligence reports linking the suspects to suspected criminal activities.

The suspects, identified as Joseph Mwata Magak alias “Boyi Sampa” and Isaac Omondi Ojwang’, were arrested before detectives searched Magak’s rented house in Mamboleo Pocho Estate.

During the search, officers recovered a homemade firearm, bow and arrows, panga, toy gun and five rolls of cannabis sativa, alongside items resembling police and military gear, including a siren, police boots, tactical trousers, a camouflage jacket and tactical boots.

Other items recovered included gun oil, a Kenyan flag and a Subaru front bumper, among other exhibits.

The DCI further established that Magak is facing an ongoing attempted robbery with violence case before the Nakuru Law Courts. The two suspects remain in custody as investigations continue ahead of their arraignment, while the recovered items have been secured as evidence.
