President Ruto Storms Kipkelion: Leaders and Residents Turn Out in Large Numbers as President Launches Key Development Projects
President Ruto visit to Kipkelion today was marked with celebrations and jubilations among the residents for the good work done .He launched Tegat Junction - Somonyet road and the last mile connectivity of electricity.
President Ruto second today on 11 th of September 2026 visit to Kericho was marked with a lot of celebrations .He spent the early morning in Kokwet, Kipkelion West constituency,Kericho County where he was welcomed by a large crowd of people.
He launched the last mile connectivity to ensure every household in Kipkelion has access to electricity.He said that an estimated amount of 420 million Kenya shillings has been set apart for the development of electricity within the constituency.The 420 million ,each village and area within the constituency will be allocated 50 million for the connectivity of electricity.Additionally he launched the Tegat Junction -Somonyet road,where there's has not been any tarmac around Kokwet.It has been a marginalized place for the longest time with bad roads with lack of electricity.
The president stated that 652,000 residents in Kericho have been registered under the Social Health Authority with a total of 33 million citizens of Kenya have been registered.He stated that initially the National Hospital Insurance Funds would wait 3 months after registration in order to be used for service while the Social Health Authority, would function immediately after service on the same day.
He also stated that in partnership with the government of Italy,they have set to build 15 hospitals.This would enable Kenyans to have access to good health.The 15 hospitals will be built across several regions within the country.
He praised the residents of Kipkelion for getting 4.5 billion shillings from the sale of coffee,saying that they are among the people who received a lot of profit in Kenya.
He gave 200 million shillings for the construction of coffee milling factories among the area of Kipkelion.This is because most of the residents of Kipkelion grow coffee in large scale.The government gave them coffee seedlings to continue planting coffee to improve the quantity of coffee produced in the region.
He said that the government has worked to remove cartels in the sugarcane and coffee factory.This will help the farmers sell their coffee and sugarcane with ease and get large profit in their farming business.The president thanked the people of Kipkelion for continuing to support him stating that he once went to Kipkelion as a minister ,then as a deputy president and now as a president, saying that the people of Kipkelion have been blessing to him.
The president condemned the politics that divide Kenya and make Kenyans to be tribalistic,saying that we should remain united as a nation for the betterment of our country and our future.
Several leaders were present including the Governor of Kericho,Dr Erick Mutai who thanked the president for the 200 million shillings allocated for coffee mills and the construction of Londiani Referral Hospital,since that has been the cry of the residents of Kipkelion.The Senator of Kericho County Aron Cheruyiot was present he thanked the president for the projects that he has launched stating that the people of Kipkelion have benefited greatly and he requested the president for the construction of 50 million water project to help the people of Kokwet and Kipkelion West constituency.The area member of parliament was parliament was present he said that he is very thankful to the president for remembering the people of Kipkelion since for a long time they had been forgotten ,he requested the president for the launch of the 1 billion shillings affordable housing in Kipkelion,180 million for the construction of student hostels and the construction of Kenya Medical Training College in Kipkelion ,saying that this would help the people of Kipkelion and facilitate development in the area.The Cabinet Secretary,Opiyo Wandayi, said that they will work together with the area leaders to ensure connectivity in the region.The Cabinet Secretary,Davis Chirchir ,said that they will continue to work with the county government to continue building roads .This will ensure good transportation within the area and to help the economic sector of the society.The area Member of County Assembly for Chilchila ward thanked the president for the good work did.He thanked the president for supporting the agricultural backbone of the society and requested the president for the construction of a modern market in Kokwet so that the economic sector of the area will be developed and requested for the building of a casualty and emergency center in Fort Tenan since it's a place that serves a major highway .This will help people using the road in case of an accident they will be attended to quickly.
The president also allocated 20 million shillings for the schools within the area of Kokwet.
In conclusion,the people of Kipkelion welcomed the president with so much joy and we're happy with the projects launched by the president stating that they had been forgotten for a long period of time.The president was happy with the people of Kipkelion and urged them to vote for him.He asked them to get their identity cards and get registered for the Independent Electrol and Boundaries Commission
