“I Will Only Work with Gachagua”: Kalonzo Firmly Rejects Kindiki’s Government Overture
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has rejected Deputy President Kindiki’s overtures, vowing to remain in the opposition. He declared he would only work with Rigathi Gachagua, accusing the government of bloodshed and insincerity. Kalonzo also demanded justice for slain blogger Albert Ojwang’.

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has categorically rejected  and distanced himself attempts by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki to lure him into joining the Kenya Kwanza administration. While addressing congregants during a church service in Ngong’ on Sunday, Kalonzo dismissed Kindiki’s recent public admiration of his leadership and instead reaffirmed his commitment to the opposition coalition. The former Vice President declared that his political allegiance lies with what he called “truthful leaders,” naming former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as the only individual in the current government he could consider working with.

This comes days after Deputy President Kindiki, during his tour of the Ukambani region, hinted at forging a political alliance with Kalonzo, describing him as a respectable and wise leader whose counsel would be valuable to the government. However, Kalonzo dismissed the remarks as a political ploy, warning that he cannot and will not associate with a regime he described as “blood-based.” “I will work with the truthful man called Gachagua. I dont believe this broad-based government is anything to follow. It is blood-based, and the latest addition to that list is Albert Ojwang’,” Kalonzo stated, referencing the late blogger who died under controversial circumstances while in police custody.

Kalonzo sharply criticized Kindiki’s role as a senior government official during recent anti-government protests that turned violent. He accused the Deputy President of overseeing state-sponsored brutality against young protestors and demanded accountability for their deaths. “You (Kindiki) should have apologized to Kenyans because you were the Interior Minister when Gen Zs were killed. Let’s start there. Then also apologize for Ojwang’s killing because you are the Deputy President,” Kalonzo said, adding that such leaders cannot pretend to court him while avoiding responsibility for government failures. The Wiper leader went on to call out the government for what he termed as insincere tactics aimed at winning political mileage in the Ukambani region.

He urged government officials to stop dragging his name into their campaigns and reiterated his readiness to face President William Ruto at the ballot in the  coming 2027 General Election. “Stop using my name. Even Ruto knows that if there is a tough opponent who will face him in the ballot in the next election, it is Kalonzo Musyoka,” he affirmed. Kalonzo added that the opposition  movement remains strong, united, and determined to remove what he described as a deceptive regime from power. Furthermore, Kalonzo demanded swift justice in the case of Albert Ojwang’, a vocal government critic who died in police custody.

He called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat, who has been linked to the tragic incident. “We will not relent, surrender, be bribed or be coerced. Our commitment as the united opposition is to deliver a democratic transition, and that includes holding every official accountable, starting with DIG Lagat,” Kalonzo concluded, cementing his stance as a central opposition figure and signaling an unwavering resolve to challenge the current regime at all levels.
