Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has cautioned Kenyan youth against attending the Jobless Rally Day organized by Inclusive National Justice, Economic & Civic Transformation (INJECT) party leader Morara Kebaso at Uhuru Park on March 24, 2025. Barasa, in a statement shared on his social media pages on March 19, claimed that Morara was misleading the youth for personal gain.

Barasa, a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) lawmaker eyeing the Bungoma gubernatorial seat in 2027, accused Morara of working for former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. He alleged that Morara’s true intention behind the rally was to generate money based on the turnout, urging the youth to be cautious. "The more you fill the place, the more he gets paid," Barasa warned.

Morara, however, has defended the rally, stating it aims to highlight the struggles of unemployed youth and push for better job opportunities. In a video shared on his X account on March 17, Morara said many young people face difficulties sustaining themselves due to joblessness and called on them to unite for change. The rally is scheduled to begin at 9:00 am at Uhuru Park.

The event has sparked mixed reactions, with some youths accusing Morara of betrayal after he recently attended a meeting with opposition leaders Martha Karua, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Eugene Wamalwa. Despite the criticism, Morara insists the rally is about advocating for youth employment and accountability from the government.
