DP Kindiki Defends President Ruto, Urges Fair Assessment of Kenya Kwanza Administration
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has urged critics to be fair in assessing President William Ruto’s performance, emphasizing that the Kenya Kwanza administration has a full five-year term to deliver on its promises. Speaking during a consultative meeting in Karen, Kindiki assured Kenyans that all pledges would be fulfilled and expressed confidence that the government would surpass expectations. He also encouraged Samburu residents to vaccinate their livestock to enhance product quality for local and international markets.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has called on critics of the Kenya Kwanza administration to be fair in their judgment of President William Ruto’s leadership. Speaking during a consultative meeting in Nairobi, Kindiki insisted that all promises made by Ruto during the 2022 campaigns would be fulfilled within his five-year term.
Calls for Patience and Fair Criticism
The DP argued that it is unfair to assess Ruto’s performance just two years into his tenure, stating that the administration should be evaluated at the end of the full term.
“I want to ask our critics to be fair to President William Ruto. All the things he promised will be achieved. Just give him time. He has a five-year term. You can’t assess his performance for a five-year term in two years. That’s unfair,” Kindiki said.
He, however, noted that he and the President welcome constructive criticism, as it serves as a reminder of their commitments to Kenyans.
“Those questions will come at the right time, but we also don’t mind you reminding us what we said because you are helping us achieve our targets.”
Commitment to Deliver on Promises
Reaffirming the governments dedication to fulfilling its pledges, Kindiki expressed confidence that the Kenya Kwanza administration would surpass expectations. He stated that the government would be fully accountable for every day in office.
“I just wonder what these characters will say once we deliver… we will account for each day in office,” he said.
He also took a swipe at critics questioning recent developments, including bonuses awarded to sugarcane farmers in Mumias.
“The other day, I saw some characters appearing perplexed when sugarcane farmers in Mumias were given bonuses. They wondered where the money came from and even speculated that the money was coming from the exchequer. And I can assure you we will confound our opponents. We will outperform ourselves.”
Focus on Livestock Sector in Samburu
Kindiki made these remarks during a consultative meeting with elected leaders, professionals, economic stakeholders, and grassroots leaders from Samburu County. The meeting, held at the DP’s official residence in Karen, focused on priority development projects and tracking the implementation of government programs.
During the session, he urged Samburu residents to take advantage of the ongoing national livestock vaccination drive, emphasizing its role in improving the quality of meat, milk, and leather products for local and international markets.
“Because you, the people of Samburu County, depend on livestock keeping, I want to encourage you to have your animals vaccinated. This is the only way we can get better value for our meat and milk products and leather products,” he stated.
As the Kenya Kwanza administration moves into the third year of its term, Kindiki reassured Kenyans that the government remains committed to delivering on its promises and improving the lives of citizens across the country.
