A man was brutally attacked and injured by a butcher in Kutus market over a Ksh.50 debt, sparking protests and a police manhunt for the attacker.

Jepither Muthii is recovering in Kerugoya County Referral Hospital after a brutal attack left him needing scrotum reconstruction surgery. The incident occurred after Muthii requested Ksh.50 he was owed for work from local butcher Isaac Gachoka. Instead of paying, Gachoka inexplicably became enraged and stabbed Muthii multiple times in the genitals, leaving him with severe injuries. Muthii now faces a long recovery and worries about the accumulating medical expenses.

The surgical team at the hospital was able to repair the damage, as confirmed by a nurse who stated that Muthiis genitals are now safe after the operation. However, the pain and uncertainty about his future weigh heavily on Muthii, who expressed his desperation for Gachoka to be found and held responsible, particularly for the mounting medical bills he cannot afford.

The attack sparked outrage in Kutus market, where residents took to the streets in protest. They clashed with police and destroyed Gachokas business premises, demanding justice for Muthii. The communitys anger underscores the severity of the assault and the demand for accountability.

A multi-agency team has been deployed to track down Isaac Gachoka, who has gone into hiding since the incident. The authorities are under pressure to apprehend him quickly and bring him to justice for the violent attack on Jepither Muthii. The case highlights issues of violence and the challenges faced by those in informal employment seeking fair compensation.
