Psychosexual stages of development.

Psychosexual stages were founded and expounded by Sigmund Freud who was a psychologist and focused his research in human growth and development from birth to adulthood.The psychosexual stages refers to the various stages that an individual has to pass as he or she grows and develops.The psychosexual stages include the following:

 

1.Oral stage 

Occurs between the age of birth upto eighteen months.The erogenous zone here is the mouth.Erogenous zone means the area of pleasure during these stages.The mouth becomes erogenous zone since it is used by the kid to suck.If the child is fixated here,he or she develops smoking habits, drinking and finger licking in future.

 

2.Anal stage 

Occurs between the age of eighteen months to three years.The erogenous zone during this stage is anus and the bladder.Successful accomplishment of this stage leads to anal retentive, which later manifest in future as tidiness whereas unsuccessful accomplishment of this stage leads to anal repulsive which later manifest as untidiness.

 

3.Phallic stage 

Occurs between the age of three years old to six years old.The erogenous zone during this stage is the genitals.Two phenomenon occcurs here that is electracomplex which is the girls attractions to the father and Oedipus complex which is the boys attraction to their mother.Unsuccessful accomplishment of electracomplex leads to daddy issues in the future.The fourth stage is Latent stage and the fifth stage is the genital stage.
