Supervision refers to the process by which an experienced counsellor or a psychologist foresee the work of a starting psychologist or a student in training. It involves self awareness, providing feedback and a developmental process. The benefits of all these include:

1.Enhancing clarity on the therapeutic techniques and goals.

Here both the supervisor and the supervisee come to agreement on which of the therapeutic techniques to adopt for example psychodynamic theory and therapeutic techniques.

2.Provides a room for two people to share their reflective experience.

Supervision is a learning process involving self awareness and provision of feedback and support. In doing this, the supervisor and supervisee share their experiences.

3.Allows supervisee to use their resources better.

Supervision aims to help supervisee on how to manage work life balance and how to cope with emotions resulting from the work loads.

4.Helps the supervisee to become his or her own supervisor.

By gaining skills given by the supervisor, the supervisees tend to utilise these skills in becoming their own supervisor.
