How to Ace Your Interview with a Creative Flair
How to take an interview?
Interviews may be stressful, yet they do not have to be so solemn and strict. Actually, it would not be a mistake to add a bit of creativity to your interview in order to be memorable and noticeable. So, make a coffee with your favorite cream (I like my coffee black, but hey, that is up to you), and get ready, because we are going to present you some cool and easy suggestions on how to stand out in your next big interview!
1. Know Your Audience
A possibility to research the company and the people with whom you need to communicate with exists prior to getting to the interview room (or prior to logging in to a video call), take some time to do so. Do they boast of an innovative culture? Are they appreciative of creativeness? Knowledge of the company culture dues to which you will be able to adjust your answers and demonstrate the way your creativity can correspond to their brand.
2. Practice Storytelling
Story telling is one of the best methodologies of depicting your experiences and competencies. Rather than enumerating the list of your qualifications, try to produce interesting texts that reflect your achievements. As an example, you can tell us a tale about the original solution that you came up with during your previous employment or about the project in which your thinking had to leave the box. Stories do not only capture the attention of your interviewers but they also make your reactions more memorable!
3. Think Visually
Depending on the occupation you may be in, donning visual aids or examples during your presentation is also an option. Portfolio, a mood board, or even an infographic, a set of visuals can express your thoughts better and demonstrate your creative nature. Simply ensure that it is related and does not phase out the narration instead!
4. The Unexpected
During the course of interviewing, there is no need to be scared about injecting a bit of personality into the equation. This would be some everyday strange ice breaker or some amusing joke in your business. You work to create an interaction and easiness. Interviews are not only about the fit but skills as well!
5. Make up Creative Questions
Be creative whenever you are asked to pose questions. Express your interest in the culture of the company by indicating an interest in the manner in which they make their teams innovative and creative. You may, as an example, pose such questions: What is the most exciting project at your team currently? What are some of the ways used by your team to celebrate the creative accomplishments? This does more than impress them by indicating that you are interested to work at the company; you will also have an idea of how the company feels like.
6. Follow Up, with a Twist
Follow up with a thank-you letter that is personal after the interview. It is possible to add something imaginative, funny quote or something interesting to your discussion. This will keep you close to the top-of-the head in a reminiscent manner!
An interview may be intimidating, however, bear in mind that this is a two-way communication process. You are able to find out about them almost as much as they are able to find out about you. Add some flare to your strategy and you will leave lasting remark and gain a step on the path to getting the job you want.
Best of luck with your interviews and be yourself, you are more creative than you think of!
Happy interviewing!
