The family of the late Kenyan comedian Zakaria Kariuki, popularly known as KK Mwenyewe, has issued a heartfelt message to Kenyans as preparations for his burial intensify. In an emotional statement delivered during a condolence visit by fellow comedian Kafengo, the family expressed deep gratitude for the love, support, and financial contributions they have continued to receive from well-wishers across the country.

KK Mwenyewe, who rose to fame for his viral impersonations of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2025, while receiving treatment at Kiambu Level 5 Hospital. His sudden death shocked the entertainment industry and his devoted online fan base, leaving a void in Kenya’s comedy scene. He was only in the early stages of what many believed would be a long and successful comedic career.

During the visit on Saturday, July 19, KKs mother delivered an emotional message to the public. His passing, she said, has left her in unbearable pain, but she has chosen to accept it as part of God’s divine plan.

Still, I want to sincerely thank all Kenyans who are walking this journey with us. Your contributions, your words, your prayers—they mean everything to us right now.”

She urged the public to continue sending in contributions to the family via a till number that has been shared on various social media platforms. According to her, the funds will help the family give KK a respectful and dignified send-off, something she believes her son deserves after making millions of Kenyans laugh.

Her sentiments were echoed by KK’s uncle, who reiterated the importance of national unity and public support during moments of personal loss. He disclosed that KK was not only a beloved son and nephew, but also the family’s breadwinner, whose efforts had helped lift them from financial struggle. He described him as a young man who remained humble and grounded even after rising to stardom.
