Karua: Ruto regime deliberately creating insecurity for public distractionPosted by K24 TV on Friday, September 5, 2025
Peoples Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua has accused President William Rutos administration of deliberately creating insecurity in some parts of Kenya, claiming the move is aimed at distracting the public from the failure of the leadership. Speaking in an interview on Friday, September 5, 2025, Karua said the presence of Jubaland troops in Mandera County is part of a planned strategy by the government.
"William Ruto and his misrule is deliberate. They are creating insecurity, realizing that the people are not with them," she said. Karua questioned how the government could allow foreign forces to operate in Kenyan territory without control. "How can you allow forces from Jubaland to occupy parts of Mandera, causing destruction and atrocities on civilians and displacing them, forcing them to leave their homes? How can you allow that to happen for more than a week and remain silent?" she asked.
She also raised concerns about Kenyas alleged involvement in Sudan, referring to RSF. The former MP suggested that the insecurity could be aimed at affecting the upcoming elections in Banissa and elsewhere. “Do they want there to be insecurity and residents not being able to vote in Banissa? Is it telling us that this is how Nairobi will be, and that we will not even be able to campaign?” he said.
Karua went on to criticise government agencies and officials, including Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and the National Security Council, for not handling the situation properly. “Where is the CS Soipan’s security? Or is he a make-up CS? He should speak out on it. This is a security issue.
Where is the National Security Council? Is it there? Its role is to ensure security within and within our borders,” he added. Karua warned that the administration thrives on creating daily scandals to divert attention from real governance issues. "This administration is throwing fire every day. If we are not talking about the Mandera invasion process by the soldiers, we will be talking about the thugs in Nairobi. Today there is one scandal, tomorrow another. We must focus on true governance," he said.
The growing tension has led to protests in Border Point One Village, where residents claim families have been separated and schools disrupted due to alleged incitement. As the standoff grows, leaders from across the political divide—including former Chief Justice David Maraga and former President Rigathi Gachagua—have also demanded government action, warning that the continued foreign presence threatens Kenya’s sovereignty.
