Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi has accused President William Rutos administration of failing Kenyans, saying he is ready to take the lead to get the country back on track. Addressing his supporters in Nyasore, Kisii County, during the burial of Mzee Naftal Zachary Chweya on Friday, the 2027 presidential candidate said Kenyans deserve a government that delivers services and not one that is "false and a debt to the nation." He blamed the government for failing to deliver on its promises, questioning the effectiveness of the Social Health Authority (SHA).

"Is this thing called SHA really working?, there are things we have been doing, continuing to deceive people with things that are not true, until the people themselves see that it is not working, they have put the country in debt, they have finished it, the only work these people are doing is a debt to our nation. otherwise." Matiangi also raised concerns about the delay in school attendance, saying it was unfair to parents and students.

Citing the ongoing friction in the Education sector surrounding school vacancies, the former Education Minister further criticized the government for neglecting the education sector while getting involved in political issues. He vowed that under his leadership, funds meant for schools would be protected.

"Today alone, I spoke to about four school principals, and they told me they have not received capitation. The capitation funds have not reached the schools. We have sent our children to school, they have opened, but how will the teachers teach them? Then we read in the newspapers that Ksh.24 billion has been stolen, but they are starting to jump around to give Ksh.64." nonsense, I tell you that is not how these people have failed in their jobs — or you do not see that they have failed, and with the way God created us Kisii people, I am ready to take off my shirt and start, so that you can see how the government will be properly managed. Matiangi referred to his leadership record while at the helm of the Education and Home Affairs portfolios, suggesting that the country needs a government that is loyal to its citizens.

He called on Kenyans to prepare for change in 2027, saying the time has come to reclaim the countrys future. "Do you want us to milk cows, or do you want us to work? Let me tell you: we have worked with you, our people. We have been in government, going around working, and I want to let you know that I am ready to start the work, even if it starts in our country," Matia said.

"Nothing will go wrong, when we were in government we used to send money to schools, this habit of stealing peoples money did not exist, this work even if you lie to us, go around talking a lot. look for people - they come looking for people here at night and take them away."

"As the senator said, when you meet them, don take Ksh.200 from them. They have stolen our money; give everyone Ksh.10,000. If they don have Ksh.10,000, don go anywhere at all." The minister was accompanied by Senator Okongo Omogeni, MPs Patrick Osero and Clive Gisairo, and UPA National Chairman Nyambega Gisesa during the event.
