President Ruto set for three-day South Africa State visit
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is scheduled to welcome his Kenyan counterpart, President William Ruto, for a three-day State Visit next week, running from June 3 to June 5, 2026. The visit, extended at Ramaphosa's invitation, is designed to further strengthen diplomatic relations, trade partnerships, and investment flows between the two nations.
According to a statement from the South African Presidency, the official proceedings will culminate on Thursday, June 4, with a formal welcome ceremony at the Union Buildings in Tshwane. This will be followed by high-level bilateral discussions between the two heads of state, as well as a business forum that will bring together key stakeholders from both countries.
The South African government has underscored Kenya’s role as a strategic partner both within the East African region and across the African continent. The Presidency noted that the two countries share longstanding, mutually beneficial relations, which were re-established in 1994 following South Africa’s transition to democracy.
During their official talks, President Ramaphosa and President Ruto are expected to explore avenues for deepening cooperation across a range of sectors, as well as strengthening collaborative efforts on regional and continental priorities. A central feature of the visit will be the signing of several Memoranda of Agreement, after which the two leaders will hold a joint media briefing at the Union Buildings.
Later that day, both presidents will attend the South Africa-Kenya Business Forum at Gallagher Estate in Midrand, Johannesburg. The forum will focus on expanding economic cooperation, facilitating business-to-business partnerships, and identifying strategies to unlock greater trade and investment opportunities between the two countries in strategic sectors of mutual interest.
