Sexual offending is any sexual activity involving no consent and maybe violent.Sexual offences are punishable by law.There are various sexual offences and the following are the psychological factors that contribute to sexual offending:

1.Cognitive distortions 

These are negative thinking patterns that force someone to comit sexual offence for example the offenders may feel that they are causing minimum harm to the victim or they may think that the victim should be the one to be blamed.

2.Social learning 

Learning sexual activities from media for example watching pornography videos can expose an individual to sexual activity and may contribute to sexual offending.

3.Impulse control problems.

Individuals who lack control for sexual urges are at a higher risk of committing sexual offences compared to those who are more likely to control their sexual feelings and urges.

4.Psychopathy and antisocial personality disorder.

Psychopaths and anti -social personality individuals are prone to violating peoples rights and are at a higher risk of committing sexual offences.

5.Dehumanization

Most of sexual offenders lack empathy and regard for humans life.They rather see human beings as objects and therefore they are likely to comit sexual offence.
