Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has shed light on his recent engagement with Kenyans living in Boston, Massachusetts, during his ongoing two-month United States tour. Speaking on Sunday, July 20, through a post on X, Gachagua described the meeting as a meaningful opportunity to connect with the diaspora and update them on Kenya’s current affairs and future development strategies. He was accompanied by his wife, Pastor Dorcas Gachagua, during the interactive session that brought together patriotic Kenyans eager to contribute to national progress.

Gachagua praised the sense of unity and strong cultural identity shared by Kenyans abroad, stating that “the amazing Kenyan culture makes a Kenyan anywhere feel at home.” The gathering served as a platform to discuss national growth, economic empowerment, governance reforms, and the role of the diaspora in shaping the countrys future. He emphasized that the diaspora represents an untapped resource capable of driving Kenyas economic transformation, adding that their insights, investments, and innovations are essential to long-term national goals.

The Boston stop is part of a wider U.S. tour that began on July 10 in Seattle, Washington. Gachagua arrived in Boston on July 17 via Logan International Airport, where he was warmly welcomed by members of the Kenyan community, led by Diaspora Chairman David Gikonyo. During his stay in Boston, Gachagua met various community groups and held consultative meetings aimed at strengthening diaspora ties to Kenya’s governance and development agenda. His spouse, Pastor Dorcas, also used the platform to advocate for youth protection against drug abuse and to promote social reform.

Earlier in Seattle, Gachagua had launched a satellite office for his political outfit, the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), signaling his intent to consolidate political support abroad in order to gain support. He held multiple town hall forums and cultural events, including a gathering with the Abagusii community, where he acknowledged their support and their concerns about Kenya’s economic and political climate. “It’s encouraging to see our people deeply invested in the future of our country, even while living thousands of miles away,” he said.

Gachagua’s U.S. visit marks his first foreign tour since his impeachment in October 2024, which ended his term as Deputy President. Many view the current tour as a crucial move in his political reawakening and rebranding ahead of the 2027 General Election. His party’s slogan ‘Skiza Wakenya’ (Listen to Kenyans) has dominated the engagements, focusing on inclusive leadership, grassroots involvement, and reform-based governance.

The Boston visit is just one stop in a planned itinerary that includes Dallas, California, and Baltimore, where Gachagua aims to mobilize more diaspora support and build strategic networks. As he continues his journey, Gachagua reiterated his commitment to listening to the Kenyan people both at home and abroad, stressing that national unity and development require collective participation across all sectors, including the global diaspora.

He concluded his Boston meeting by calling on Kenyans in the diaspora to remain engaged in Kenya’s democratic processes, to invest in local communities, and to support leadership that champions transparency, unity, and long-term prosperity.
