NAIROBI: President William Ruto has departed Kenya for New York, United States, where he is set to participate in the high-level week of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

The President’s departure comes as world leaders, heads of government, diplomats and senior officials converge at the United Nations Headquarters in New York for discussions on major international, economic, security and development issues.

The 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly officially opened on September 8, 2026, while the high-level week is scheduled to run from September 22 to September 29. The General Assembly’s general debate will take place from September 22 to 26 and on September 28.
