Secretary General of Health Services Ouma Oluga said that 95 percent of cancer patients receiving treatment under the Community Health Authority (SHA) do not pay anything from the pocket. Talking in an interview on Wednesday, Oluga admitted that five percent of cancer patients may still pay from their pocket, especially when the total cost exceeds the limits imposed. 95 percent. The other 5 percent are currently suffering from cancer at the moment, and they must pay from their own pocket, "he said. However, he urged the public to look at these as unique examples rather than normal.

"We understand that there are 10 or 20 Kenyans who may have received valuable treatment, lets say, Sh700,000. SHA paid up to Sh600,000, but there is this remaining Sh100,000," he said. " It is approximately Sh600,000.

He emphasized that although there are unique issues, they are rare. According to him, the SHA has already helped five million Kenyans, many of whom were served in expensive procedures without paying one penny.

"Five million Kenyans have gone to the hospital, have received medical care and have not paid one penny because the sham paid for them," Oluga said. "First, the cost of surgery is between Sh120,000 and Sh180,000. Second, the cost of radiation is approximately Sh200,000. Three, Kemotherapi. All of these things have been more than a year.

Oluga emphasized highly that the Sha is run on the principle of equality, adding that even a few unique ones are inevitable. He said the authorities have established a telephone center, 147, where any Kenyan can submit concerns. "Every personal case is dealt with.

The Ps really acknowledged there are challenges, but stressed that treatment for the majority is accessible and fully funded. Oluga appealed for public understanding that SHA is a work in progress, but is already delivering tangible results.

Concerning the student nurses, he has said that student nurses seeking an internship must first graduate. Their names must be forwarded to the Ministry by NCK, following all the required instructions. He also started that after a igorous verification exercise involving 7,800 workers, 600 couldn be properly accounted for. About the UHC, he says that theres no gratuity for UHC workers transitioning from contract to permanent and pensionable.

PS Oluga told Kenyans that SHA is working and is here to transform the health sector in the country, urging Kenyans to register in order to enjoy good quality health services in the country.
