Students at Agai Mixed Secondary School in Nyakach, Kisumu County has evey joy to smie  after receiving a donation of sports kits from the Eliud Owalo Foundation, boosting their preparations for the upcoming Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term Two National Championship.

The donation that they received, comprising 18 tracksuits and 17 football kits, was presented by Eliud Owalo, Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of the President.

In addition to the kits, Owalo extended financial support to the school and was accompanied by veteran footballers who came to inspire the young athletes by motivating them to work hard in both education and co carriculum activities.

“We are here to motivate these boys as they carry the hopes of the Nyanza region to the national stage,” Owalo said, commending the team’s outstanding performance at the regional level. “With the right support, they can rise to become some of Kenya’s and the region’s finest footballers who will picture the name of the school into higher levels.”

School Principal and football coach Gordon Akoko hailed the gesture as a historic milestone giving their thanks to the foundation for giving them the support, noting that the visit by former soccer stars had significantly boosted the team’s morale and their aspirations.

“The team has expressed determination to not only represent Kenya in future football tournaments but also pursue opportunities to play beyond the country’s borders including international, across the region and internationally,” the coach assured.

Agai Mixed Secondary and Sigoti Complex Girls, both from Nyakach Sub-County, will represent Nyanza in boys’ football and girls’ rugby, respectively, marking their debut at the national championships set  to sart next week in Kakamega County.
