Public Service and Special Programmes Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ending hunger in Kenya for good, stating that no citizen will be allowed to die from starvation. Ruku made the remarks on Thursday while launching a relief food distribution drive in Moyale, Marsabit County.

Addressing residents at Baraza Park that day, the CS said the government has enough food in stock to sustain Kenyans affected by drought, particularly in arid and semi-arid counties. “We have mapped the most vulnerable households, and we are making sure help reaches them in time. This is not a one-time event — it’s a continuous effort,” Ruku stated.

The initiative, guided by Executive Order No. 1 of 2025, is focused on providing humanitarian aid to 23 drought-stricken counties. Ruku noted that his ministry is spearheading the campaign to strengthen food security and human dignity in affected areas.

He was accompanied by several leaders from the region, including Moyale MP Prof. Jaldessa Guyo and Marsabit Woman Representative Waqo Naomi. The leaders echoed the need for continued collaboration between the public and government to build resilience in marginalised regions.

In addition to  giving out the relief food, the CS announced plans to open a Huduma Centre in Moyale to decentralize government services and ease access to identification documents, birth registration, and social welfare support for the residents to get good services .

Ruku also commissioned a new administration block at St. Mary’s Mixed Day Secondary School, funded by the NG-CDF. He emphasized the government’s commitment to education, infrastructure, and economic recovery, calling on residents to support national development efforts.

“This administration is delivering real impact,” he said. “No region will be left behind.”
