Manchester United manager Csaid on Friday that goalkeeper Altay Bayindir will retain his place for this weekends derby at Manchester City despite the arrival of Senne Lammens. The Red Devils goalkeeping woes have been at the heart of another poor start to the season for the Red Devils.

Bayindir has started all three Premier League games so far but has been criticised for his share of goals conceded by Arsenal and Burnley at Old Trafford. Andre Onana started Uniteds humiliating League Cup exit at fourth-tier Grimsby but has since been loaned out to Turkish club Trabzonspor. Lammens, 23, joined from Royal Antwerp for £1m in September for £1m.

Amorim said the Belgian would challenge for his number one spot but is wary of throwing him into the deep end against City at the Etihad. "We are very pleased. He is a goalkeeper with great potential. We are in a time where we have to look at the present but also at the future.

So it is a bit of both," Amorim said at Lammens. "Altay will continue because it is a different league, a different country, a different training, a different football, so we will try to maintain (the selection ratio) and they will fight for the place." The victory at the Etihad last season was one of Amorims few Premier League successes last season.

Despite taking just four points from the opening three games, there have been few signs of improvement for United in the Premier League, either side of Grimsby. And Amorim believes his team is better than when they beat their city rivals in December, a month after taking the job. "I think we are a better team. I think if you look at any aspect, if you look at the data, we are a different team," he said. "We are ready to play the game, but we have to show it on Sunday." Matheus Cunha, Mason Mount and Diogo Dalot are all ruled out of Sundays clash with injury.
