DP Kindiki Tours Nyeri, Urges Focus on Development Over Politics
DP Kithure Kindiki visited Nyeri, urging leaders to prioritize development over politics while inspecting key infrastructure projects in the region.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has called for an end to premature political campaigns, urging leaders to prioritize development in the Mt. Kenya region.
During a visit to Nyeri County on Friday, Kindiki emphasized the need for unity and progress, taking a veiled swipe at his predecessor, Rigathi Gachagua. The DP’s visit marks the first time a senior government official has toured Gachagua’s home county since his impeachment.
Addressing residents while inspecting the Endarasha-Watuka road upgrade and launching a last-mile electricity connectivity project under the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) in Kieni Constituency, Kindiki urged politicians to set aside political battles and focus on service delivery.
“We do not have time for politics now. Our priority must be development,” Kindiki stated, in what appears to be a response to recent political tensions.
His remarks come amid heightened political activity in the region, with Kenya Kwanza allies accusing Gachagua of fueling divisions.
Kindiki’s visit signals the government’s continued push for infrastructural improvements in Mt. Kenya, despite lingering political undercurrents.
