President William Ruto has begun a two-day development tour of Narok County, with the visit expected to highlight the government’s efforts to accelerate development and address key priorities affecting residents. During the tour, the President is set to launch and inspect several projects focusing on road infrastructure, electricity connectivity, markets, education and tourism. Among the projects lined up are the 48-kilometre Enengetia–Olokurto–Olpusimoru Road, the Maasaantare–Ewuaso Ngiro Road and the ongoing Ololulunga–Songoo Road, which are expected to improve transport, ease the movement of goods and open up markets for farmers and traders. Ruto is also expected to commission a new market at Ololulunga Trading Centre and launch last-mile electricity connectivity in Olpusimoru, particularly benefiting communities living near the Kenya-Tanzania border. The tour comes as Narok continues to position itself as a major agricultural and tourism hub, with investments in transport infrastructure and improved connectivity seen as critical to unlocking the county’s economic potential. The President is also expected to highlight developments linked to tourism, including improved access to the Maasai Mara, while education remains part of the agenda with the planned launch of the Maasai Mara–Johanna Ngeno University College. The two-day visit is therefore expected to bring renewed attention to Narok’s development needs, with roads, electricity, markets, education, agriculture and tourism forming the centrepiece of the President’s engagements with residents.
