GAPS IN FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGY.

Forensic psychology refers to a branch of psychology which applies psychological principles in the legal system and in the criminal justice system.There have been steps that have been put in place to ensure that the field thrive but there are still other gaps that remain untouched.A gap refers to a condition which limits a certain activity to be fully successful.

Technological Advancements.

There is need for adoption of the new technologies like virtual reality exposure therapy and Artificial intelligence assisted therapy as this will ensure that the online commited crimes are well dealt with as well as those involved in these crimes receive an environmental -friendly therapy.

Education and Training.

This begins with introduction of Forensic psychology as a course in academic institutions where students can register, take the required years of training and be licensed as a professional eligible for conducting assessments in the legal system.Furthermore, practicing forensic psychologists should be receiving continuous training to make them well aware of the current trends in their field.

Adoption of Neuropsychological Assessment.

Studies on Magnetic Resonance Imaging seems to serve a very fundamental role when it comes to criminal investigation as it provides further information about the mind in the time of crime.

Ethical Considerations.

Ethical guidelines and considerations such as confidentiality, justice, beneficence,non-maleficence, boundaries of competence and correct use of the assessment tools need to be looked at keenly.The importance of all these is to increase the trust between the psychologist and the client facing trial.

Risk Assessments.

There is need for advancements in forensic tools.The tools must be reliable,valid and accurate.Reliability refers to the consistency of a measuring tool while validity means that the tool is measuring what it is suppose to be measuring.Accuracy on the other hand refers to a tool with no biasness in results of the tests.Therefore,the correct tools for measuring antisocial behaviours like sexual abuse need to be advanced.

Research.

Learning is a continuous process,this also applies to research and other scientific studies.Research on the future trends of forensic psychology and possible future advancements are very critical as it assists psychologists to be well aware and prepared in handling clients in an environmental -friendly way.

These gaps when actively implemented and reinforced in the legal and criminal justice system, forensic psychologists can have a very humble time in handling clients by conducting risk assessments, conducting therapy to those in the criminal justice system and juvenile system and advocating for the rights of those in the legal system.
