Kalonzo issues Moha Jicho Pevu an automatic nomination as the Wiper candidate for the Mombasa gubernatorial race.
Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) leader Kalonzo Musyoka has declared that Nyali MP Mohamed Ali, popularly known as Jicho Pevu, will receive a direct nomination from the United Opposition to run for Mombasa governor in the 2027 elections. Speaking at a rally in Mombasa on Saturday, Kalonzo explained that the decision was made after discussions with other opposition figures. “How many of you are ready to make him governor of Mombasa? On behalf of my colleagues—Riggy G, Eugene Wamalwa, JB Muturi, and the others—I am happy to say we are united in backing this gentleman from Nyali and Mombasa, whose job is to expose thieves,” Kalonzo said. He added that Mohamed Ali’s history of fighting corruption makes him an ideal candidate to lead Mombasa, and emphasized the coalition’s full support. Before entering politics, the Nyali MP gained fame as an investigative journalist known for uncovering corruption and governance failures.
