More than 100 mechanics from across the North Rift region gathered in Eldoret on Sunday for the second edition of Vivo Energy Kenya's Mechanics Wellness Day, an initiative aimed at recognizing and appreciating the professionals who keep Kenya's transport, agriculture and industrial sectors operational.

Held under the theme "Celebrating the People Behind Kenya's Mobility Ecosystem," the event brought together mechanics for a day of free health services, sports and recreational activities, highlighting the important role they play in driving the country's economy.

Speaking during the event, Vivo Energy Kenya's Lubricants and LPG Sales and Marketing Manager, Stephen Gikonyo, said the company values the dedication and expertise of mechanics, noting that behind every safe journey, successful harvest and timely delivery is a skilled professional ensuring vehicles and machinery remain in good condition.

He added that through Shell Lubricants, the company is committed to supporting mechanics not only with quality products but also by investing in their health, skills and overall well-being.

To promote better health among mechanics, Equity Afya partnered with Vivo Energy Kenya to provide free medical services, including blood pressure checks, diabetes screening, eye examinations and general health consultations. Participants also received health education on workplace safety and proper ergonomics.

The event also featured football matches, pool, darts and other indoor games, giving mechanics an opportunity to interact, strengthen professional networks and enjoy time with their families and industry partners.

The day ended with an awards ceremony recognizing winners of the various sporting competitions.

Vivo Energy Kenya said it will continue supporting mechanics beyond the annual wellness event through its Shell Lubricants programme, which offers technical training, product education, safety awareness and quality lubrication solutions to help improve service delivery and build customer confidence across workshops in Kenya.
