Ruto: Bomas International Conference Centre to Boost Tourism, Position Nairobi as Regional Events Hub

President William Ruto has expressed satisfaction with the progress of the ongoing construction of the Bomas International Conference Centre (BICC), describing the project as a key investment in Kenya's tourism and conference industry.

The Head of State inspected the construction works and chaired a high-level meeting aimed at resolving implementation challenges and fast-tracking completion of the facility. Among the issues discussed was the need to establish adequate and reliable power infrastructure to support the world-class conference complex.

According to President Ruto, the completion of the BICC will strengthen Nairobi's status as a premier destination for conferences, exhibitions, and major international events in East and Central Africa.

He noted that the facility is expected to enhance Kenya's capacity to host large-scale regional and global gatherings while meeting evolving preferences in the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) sector.

The President further stated that the project forms part of the government's broader strategy to grow the tourism industry, with a target of attracting more than five million visitors annually and generating over KSh1 trillion in tourism revenue by 2028.

The BICC is expected to become one of the country's flagship infrastructure projects, supporting economic growth, job creation, and Kenya's competitiveness in the international events market.
