Tenwek High School yesterday hosted hundreds of fans and supporters to a special luncheon in appreciation of their unwavering support during the recently concluded Bomet County Secondary School Games.
The school emerged as one of the top performers in the county championships, securing titles in football, basketball and indoor games to earn qualification tickets to the Rift Valley regional games scheduled to take place in Narok county from July 6 to 13.
In football, Tenwek edged out their long-time rivals Kaplong Boys High School 1-0 in a tightly contested final, while the basketball team defeated Kimulot Boys 12-7 to clinch the county crown.
Speaking during the celebration, Senior Principal Mutali Chesebe said the luncheon was organized to recognize and appreciate the vital role played by the community in the school's sporting success.
“The school cannot excel in academics and sports without the support of the community. This celebration is our way of thanking all those who stood with us throughout the competition,”said Chesebe.
The principal lauded fans for turning up in large numbers during the games and providing morale to the teams, noting that their presence played a key role in motivating the players to victory.
“Thank you for your continued support. We value the strong cooperation between the school and the community, and we look forward to achieving even greater success together,”he added.
The event was marked by celebrations, entertainment and interactions between students players, staff, alumni and supporters, as the school now shifts its focus to preparations for the upcoming regional games.
