Teachers are pressing for clarification regarding an unexplained Ksh.108 rise in PAYE deductions on their June pay slips.
Teachers are voicing frustration over an unexplained Ksh.108 PAYE increase on their June payslips, with no prior communication from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
Union officials estimate that if applied to all 300,000 TSC-employed teachers, this adjustment could total Ksh.32.4 million in a single month.
The deduction adds to teachers' existing financial strain amid high living costs, and comes shortly after the signing of new career progression guidelines and ahead of anticipated salary adjustments under the CBA.
TSC has not yet commented on the source of the deduction.
