Political analyst and senior fan of Raila Odinga, Nuru Okanga has criticized President William Rutos plan to give them power, claiming that young people from Jacaranda were never gifted motorcycles as announced by many, but instead were used as role models to create a public relations festival.
Speaking on Saturday, August 16, 2025, after meeting one of the disappointed beneficiaries, Okanga explained that some of the young people were invited to the White House, where they were instructed to take pictures holding the keys and standing next to the motorcycle, but none of them received the bodabodas. He noted that what followed was fraud and evidence of the handing over of power to the nation. it happened in reality.
"I am here with this young man, Kamau Wa Kisumu, and he is among the young people who went to the White House. He said that he was given a key and took pictures with a motorcycle, but the truth is that they were never given the motorcycles," he said. He said that after the event, which was held at the White House, disappointed young people gathered again in Jacaranda and raised their voices against what they saw as exploitation.
Okanga explained that instead of fulfilling the promise, the government used the young people to create a narrative that it was uplifting them, but nothing meaningful was given. He also claimed that later motorcycles were given to a few groups from other areas to perpetuate the illusion that Jacarandas youth also benefited. "After that, they came back, and we went to Jacaranda, where we raised our voices and said that Ruto must stop abusing young people and making unnecessary noises. We said that Ruto must stop making many relationships with the public and instead fulfill what he promises," he said.
Okanga then criticized President William Ruto for posting on his official Facebook page that the youth empowerment program ignored and distributed youth empowerment software. He emphasized that such actions are the same as deceiving the public and abusing the dignity of young people who should be empowered. “As the Citizens Parliament, when we saw this story, someone has just said that he has never been given a boda boda, Ruto pretended as if he had called Sakaja, then Sakaja called this young man named Amautavi, when they called people left here, the young people went to the White House, then the young people of Dandora were given motorbikes and accompanied them, but those Jacaranda motorcycles could be said that the Parliament has been given. none of us were given motorcycles,” added.
The voiceless activist also revealed that he has started receiving threats from individuals warning him to either stop criticizing Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja or leave the city. He declared that he would not be intimidated and remained silent, insisting that he spoke fearlessly and would continue to defend the truth. “Today I have seen people threatening me, saying that I must leave Nairobi if I do not support Sakaja, or they will come to me. I want to make it clear that I speak without fear.”
