Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has criticized President William Ruto for suppressing the independence of the Court and the right of citizens to join politics in recent government abuses targeting opponents. Speaking on Friday in Diani, Kwale County, Kalonzo warned that this poses a threat to plunge the country into dictatorship if it is not controlled.
The annual meeting of the Kenya Bar Association (LSK) in Diani organized a conference of confrontation between President Rutos allies and the opposition. "You cannot outlaw human rights...we all know, under Article 20 of the Constitution...we ordered, and this is part of our domestic laws, those agreements that Kenya has signed, and all those enhanced human rights...so you can run away," he said.
Kalonzo accused President Ruto of suppressing the voices of the opposition in revealing the deliberate claws of the success achieved in the country in developing democracy - statements reinforced by leaders from the ODM party of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. ODM Secretary General and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna asked Attorney General Dorcas Oduor to deliver a message to the President: "You preach in the choir. The people who need that advice aren these lawyers - we know what the law is, we know what a guarantee means to expect.
The person you have to talk to is your boss, because hes the one who doesn know hes having an objection what that means. people, like lawyers, and everything that has been done by this administration to push back on peoples freedoms and benefits. Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino added: "To Mr. Kalonzo Musyoka, go and win the nation. My senior senator Edwin Sifuna, continue to inject, inject and inject camel. And for the President of the Republic of Kenya, you must respect the Constitution."
The leaders continued to accuse President Ruto of trying to shut down the Judiciary, due to his independent actions. "All those who were dragged to the anti-terrorism court and treated like terrorists when we know the purpose of Parliament to enact the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) (were looking at international criminals like Al-Qaeda and Al-Shabaab," noted Kalonzo. This confrontation now puts at risk the next joint meeting of ODM MPs and the UDA party led by Ruto.
Kalonzo, Sifuna and Babu Owino, have continued their attacks against the administration of President William Ruto, denouncing it for human rights violations. They all started that they will continue fighting for Kenyans.
