Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has challenged President William Ruto to name those he accused of demanding money from Ministers and Governors, citing that such statements require confirmation. President Ruto, in his speech during the Devolution Conference in Homa Bay County on Wednesday, claimed that some MPs have turned Parliament committees into money-making factions. "Something is happening in Parliament that must be shouted at. There is money owed from Executives, from Governors (especially those who are responsible," the Head of State noted.

"It can go on as usual. It cannot be that House committees demand to be paid to write reports or look the other way." Responding, Senator Sifuna explained that the accusations asked the President to list the members of parliament involved in the corrupt activities. He referred to the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, saying he did not need any monetary payment to take a stand on the matter. "I want President William Ruto to tell the country who the people are asking for money from Ministers and Governors.

Tell us. To make such strong accusations, we need names," Sifuna said during the Annual Conference of the Bar Association in Kenya held in Diani on Friday. "Like Sifuna, I had a public stance on (former Deputy President Rigathi) the path to Gachagua before he was impeached. Are you telling me you e paying me to do something I already wanted to do?" He added: "Wouldn I go on record against some of the things that were coming out of the DP pulpit, would I want you to pay me to sue Gachagua?" Sifuna also responded to Ruto about the slogan Wantam (one term), which has gained popularity online with calls for the President not to be voted for a second term.

He noted that the slogan reflects how Ruto came to power using the Hustlers slogan. "We have to be brave and brave. Saving a nation is the same as fighting for the soul of this country. It is not an easy task. The same people who rose to power with the roar of slogans, running around talking nonsense, no one understood what they meant.

The same people say we can do that and go by the slogan, say it ourselves," Sifuna added. During the devolution conference, Ruto read to the MPs an act of violence for allegedly preventing the Government from carrying out its duties. He asked the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to initiate an investigation and take strict action against the MPs. "I have made it clear to the EACC that there will be no sacred cows. There will be no phone calls from below or above to prevent anyone from being prosecuted," Ruto said.
