Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has reiterated his support for President William Ruto, saying they are not going anywhere. Mbadi said he has witnessed how the President has united all Kenyans without discrimination under his leadership. Speaking on Thursday, the Prime Minister added that all ethnic groups have now come together to support Ruto to deliver on his promises to Kenya. "President Ruto, you have shown us a different kind of friendship. I am not saying this because I am the Finance Cabinet Secretary.

I am saying this because I see how you relate to everyone in this country. Kenyans have seen how you treat everyone equally. I do not want to tell my people that we are not going anywhere," Mbadi said. Mbadis views were echoed by Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, who assured Ruto that they fully support a broad-based government. "We sat with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga at the ODM Central Committee. We have resolved that we support a broad-based government.

The resolution is in the minutes signed by Raila. We fully support a broad-based government," he said. Junet added that ODM wants the country to be stable and develop for the welfare of Kenyans. "I was among those who carried pots on their heads, but now the cost of living is low, what is expensive is the cost of politics, because people are protesting without good intentions, they are protesting to destroy peoples property, you don know what their agenda is," he added. "The politics of justice will come to an end in 2027.

As a party, as a people, we support a broad-based government." In July 2024, Ruto dissolved his cabinet and announced plans to form a "broad-based government" in response to growing public anger over punitive tariffs and worsening economic hardship. Although both leaders denied entering into a formal alliance, Ruto and Raila said their strategic confrontation was aimed at uniting the country and restoring public confidence amid nationwide protests led by the youth.

Ruto defended the formation of a broad-based government, explaining that it was guided by God. He said the arrangement was essential to create the political goodwill needed to drive the country’s development agenda, adding: “Transforming a nation is not an easy task.” The formation of a national unity government has dramatically changed Kenya’s political landscape, blurring the lines between the opposition and the government after several of Raila’s allies were appointed to key cabinet positions.

Mbadi was appointed as the Treasury Cabinet Secretary; former ODM deputy leader Hassan Joho took the Mining portfolio, while Opiyo Wandayi and Wycliffe Oparanya were given the Energy and MSME portfolios respectively—signaling a partnership between the two camps.
