Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has donated five acres of family land in Kirembe to support the government’s affordable housing agenda, President William Ruto has revealed. The land will be used for the construction of new housing units under the national housing program.

Raila Odinga has donated five acres of land in Kisumu to support the governments affordable housing project. President Ruto announced a KSh3.5 billion investment in the initiative, set to benefit over 1,000 residents. Both leaders vowed to work together to address housing and development needs.

. President Ruto, while laying a foundation stone for the LV Marina housing project in Kisumu on Thursday, said the government will invest KSh3.5 billion in the donated parcel, with the project expected to benefit nearly 1,000 locals. He added that construction is also underway for the Lumumba housing units, targeting over 2,000 beneficiaries.

 The Head of State commended Odinga for his patriotic gesture and reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring more Kenyans become homeowners. Ruto urged citizens to disregard divisive politics and unite for development.

Odinga, who was present during the event, pledged continued support for government efforts to tackle national challenges. He emphasized that the housing project would include vital amenities such as schools and hospitals to serve the growing Kisumu population.
