Tensions Simmer as Governor Mbarire Confronts Betrayal in UDA Power Struggle
Governor Cecily Mbarire met Deputy President Kithure Kindiki amid rising tensions within UDA over alleged political betrayal. Mbarire accused Nairobi leaders of sidelining her in Embu affairs. The feud deepens as she threatens to expose those undermining her leadership.

Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire held a tense meeting with Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and local leaders on Wednesday amid deepening cracks within the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). The meeting, which focused on development and safeguarding key agricultural sectors, came as accusations of political betrayal continue to rock the ruling party in Embu.

Mbarire, who also serves as UDA’s national chairperson, has raised alarm over secret political meetings allegedly organized by Nairobi-based leaders to undermine her authority. Speaking during Madaraka Day celebrations in Mbeere South, she accused certain government operatives of sowing division and sidelining elected Embu leaders in key decisions.

"If there’s anyone who suffered for this government, it’s me. Now outsiders come to fight us?" Mbarire lamented, vowing to expose those involved if the political sabotage persists. Her fiery remarks have reignited long-standing tensions with DP Kindiki, who previously questioned her leadership after President Ruto faced heckling during a visit to the county.

Notably, Mbarire was excluded from recent high-profile meetings chaired by Kindiki, raising eyebrows within political circles. Her aides claim she was deliberately kept in the dark about the DP’s engagements with local MPs and officials — a move seen by observers as further deepening the rift between Embu’s top leadership and national party bosses.
