The Africa Forward Summit is now in its second day in Nairobi, with a busy agenda at KICC featuring high-level sessions on financing reforms, peace and security, artificial intelligence, the blue economy, health, and agriculture.

A plenary working lunch on reforming the international financial system and expanding African nations' access to sustainable financing is scheduled from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Confirmed speakers include French President Emmanuel Macron, World Bank Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, and Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Other expected participants in the financing discussions are IFC Managing Director Makhtar Diop, Zambia’s President Hakainde Hichilema, EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso, and Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, along with officials from the AfDB, ATI, and other bodies.

A peace and security plenary will take place from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM, opening with remarks from President William Ruto and President Macron. Discussions will include UN Secretary-General António Guterres and African Union Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf. The agenda also includes a session on African-led mediation for African crises, featuring Togo's President Faure Gnassingbé, Djibouti's President Ismail Omar Guelleh, and Mauritania's President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani, as well as talks on financing African peace operations with Mozambique's President Daniel Chapo and Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama.

Later, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, a parallel roundtable on AI and digital technologies will be held at Taifa Hall, with Botswana's President Duma Boko and Rwanda's President Paul Kagame among the speakers. Concurrent sessions will focus on the blue economy and health: the blue economy roundtable will feature Senegal's President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and President Tinubu, while the health roundtable will be moderated by AMREF CEO Dr. Githinji Gitahi.

The programme also lists an agriculture roundtable, which will include Lesotho's King Letsie III and Mauritania's President Ghazouani.
