The Cabinet Secretary for Interior Security and National Administration Kipchumba Murkomen, has announced that the enrollment of the people and the issuance of national identities quickly under the ongoing security forum program produces positive results.

CS emphasized the success of the program in Kericho County, where the Registrar of Persons registered 25,000 applicants for identification cards for the first time, exceeding the initial target of 18,000. "I urge all Kenyans who have reached the age of 18 to come forward and register for their national identification cards," he said. Murkomen emphasized that a national identification card is an important document required to access essential government services such as National Care through the Social Health Authority (SHA) and the Social Housing Program.

"We have 22 ID registration centers, and although we have gone through our goals in the past year, there are still many who need to collect their IDs. It is important because the ID has a relationship with SH, and many other programs going on," emphasized CS. According to him, in 2024, the target was about 18,000, but it passed by registering 25,000 people. Murkomen said the target of 2025 is 24,000, adding that the government expects to achieve that goal. "We have improved our registration plans. This is the most stable county, so the challenge of telephone registration is not a big deal here, and as I told you, we have 22 registration centers, which are more than seven sub-counties," he said. He said the government had sent enough infrastructure and staff to ensure that the improved registration exercise was going well.

"We can encourage the people of Kericho to come and register, implement national IDs because this is very important for them to access government services at various levels as well as medical services through SHA," emphasized the Security Chief.

The minister noted that the security forum has revived government officials, especially in the security and administration sectors, with many now carrying out their responsibilities with new strength and commitment. The purpose of the Security Forum, he said, is to evaluate security and involve leaders, security teams, national government administrative officials (shields) and peace committees on strategies to strengthen security, peace and solidarity. It also provides an opportunity for the government to get direct views from people on government services, among others. Kericho was the 25th County to host a security forum for the Security Forum yesterday. "We also get feedback on government projects in the area. I am happy to note that the planned government projects are underway," he said.

For all these projects, we have been summarized by our team, and we will report to various ministries, but also during the Security Forum, we will inform the public about the progress made about these projects.
