Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta in recent days has re -emerged publicly, sparking political talks. In what appears to be a clear indication that he will be the main protagonist in the 2027 general election, Kenyatta on Tuesday called on a special national conference of the Jubilee Party members to discuss, among other things, the partys direction in preparation for the 2027 elections. This move, along with several others in recent days, has put the Jubilee leader under great care three years after leaving office, thus sparking rumors about his increasingly busy political calendar.
Despite the retirement of the presidency about three years ago, the political shadow of the retired president continues to spread. Its rare appearance but has often sparked rumors within political circles in the country. And just one day after holding an important meeting of the National Jubilee Partys executive committee at the partys headquarters, the Jubilee Party leader has convened a special national conference later this month.
In a notice issued to all members, Kenyatta issued a 21 -day notice to a special national meeting to be held at Jockey, Nairobi, Kenya. The former leader of the country highlighted three key agendas of the conference, including: receiving a state report from the National Executive Committee, through, drafting and approves the Partys policies and considering and approving any other matters.
However, reports of the NEC session that lasted for approximately two hours on Tuesday, have continued to be limited. Some of the members who attended the meeting told Citizen TV that the party also discussed the possibility of waving its flag in the 2027 elections, a statement that was opposed by part of the attendees. The party has been chasing former interior minister Dr Fred Matiangi as a possible candidate.
However, the party is also said to violate the idea of supporting ODM leader Raila Odinga, if he broke a relationship with President William Ruto. The meeting also took place just four days after Kenyatta met with his successor, President William Ruto, White House, Nairobi. The two met alongside a joint meeting of the East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) on the DRCs peace process.
The two seemingly happy leaders, seemed to be exchanging fun, with President Ruto sending his former boss to a home visit to the renovated palace. President Kenyattas personal office has also seen senior international visitors visit. Just a week ago, Kenyatta held talks with the British Ambassador to Kenya, Neil Wigan. The former country leader also met with President Ruto in December last year at his Ichaweri home in Gatundu, Kiambu County.
The talks were followed by the appointment of some of Kenyattas closest partners to the powerful authority in the Kenyan government. "According to Article 8.1 and 10.1 of the Jubilee Party Constitution, a 21 -day notice is issued to the Special National Member Conference held at Jockey, Nairobi, Kenya," said Uhuru Kenyatta, party leader, Jubilee Party.
