Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has indicated that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) may be focused on asking President William Ruto to support former prime minister Raila Odinga in the 2027 presidential election. He explained that this partnership should not be considered to support Rutos plan for re -election.
Odhiambo also defended Raila Odingas decision to work with President Ruto, saying it was a difficult but important election for the benefit of the country. He emphasized that Raila has been able to withstand the private and political sacrifice in seeking a democratic journey of Kenya, and his move to join Ruto should be considered as a step towards unity rather than betrayals. "Raila Odinga has had the need to make difficult decisions for this country. He emphasized that the current ODM cooperation with the Ruto administration does not mean that they will support him in the 2027 elections.
And as a result, we have agreed that with the aim of maintaining the stability of the country, we are standing with a broader government until 2027. And it is not direct that we will support Ruto in 2027.
His views come just days after ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna publicly criticized the clause agreement (MoU) between the ODM and the UDA President Ruto, saying it was dead. In memory I advise the party not to enter this MOU and UDA, and we still went on to go into that MOU, but you see, the beauty is that it is proven to be justified every day, "said Sifuna.
The Nairobi senator accused President Ruto and his team of treating the agreement as a public relations exercise instead of being a sincere political promise. "Sifuna explained. He further revealed that he had refused to join a new team formed to inspect and look over the MOU."
According to Sifuna, the ODM-UDA agreement had two main goals: to protect the lives of citizens and maintain a strong democratic situation until 2027. The ODM SG has been one of the most vibrant leader inside ODM who has been criticizing the Kenya kwanza government despite of the leader Raila Odinga starting that the broadbase government is really together to deliver to Kenyans.
Last year after the formation of broad base government the ODM part donates some minister to the government whereby Raila Odinga praises them as experts who will help the Kenya Kwanya restore the economy of the country.
