Mount Kenya Revolt: Gachagua Vows to Unseat Ruto in 2027
Gachagua declares a political split from Ruto, vowing to unite Mount Kenya's seven million voters against him in 2027. He accuses Ruto of attempting to divide the region and asserts their determination to end his presidency after one term. The event featured a united front of Mount Kenya leaders, signaling a major political clash.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has dramatically announced a political split from President William Ruto, revealing a plan to unite Mount Kenyas seven million voters against him in the 2027 election. Speaking at a thanksgiving service at his Nyeri home, Gachagua declared the region was ready to abandon Ruto, asserting, "This man—Kasongo—must serve only one term." He emphasized that the region, which significantly contributed to Rutos 2022 victory, would now lead his political downfall.

Gachagua detailed a strategic pact among Mount Kenya leaders to consolidate their votes, stating, "We have agreed that our seven million votes will not be wasted." He reminded Ruto of the regions crucial 47% vote share in the last election, warning, "It was this mountain that carried you on its back and delivered you to State House. And now, it will be this same mountain that walks you out." He portrayed the region as a unified force determined to end Rutos presidency after a single term.

Gachagua also accused Ruto of attempting to divide the Mount Kenya region, specifically targeting a supposed rift between the East and West. He alleged that Ruto had encouraged a Member of Parliament to preach division, a tactic Gachagua vowed would fail. "I told him it would not work," he declared, emphasizing the regions unity. He grounded his political efforts in faith, stating, "We are praying to God, and we believe in His power. This is no longer about political titles—it is about justice, about dignity, and about taking back our voice."

The event saw a strong showing of Mount Kenya leaders, including governors, senators, MPs, and MCAs, all supporting Gachaguas stance. Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, his wife, and Martha Karua, who received a grand reception, were also present, signaling a united front against the current administration. Gachaguas fiery address has set the stage for a dramatic political showdown leading up to the 2027 elections.
