The IEBC has announced that 2.3 million new voters were registered during their enrollment process, which concluded on April 28, 2026.

Over a 30-day period from March 30 to April 28, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) registered 2,345,476 new voters through its Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) drive. IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon called the achievement a major milestone and thanked Kenyans for their support, noting that weekly registrations averaged over 500,000.

Although the commission fell short of its 2.5 million target, it still deemed the exercise a success due to improvements over past large-scale drives. For the first time, IEBC offered registration services at all 57 Huduma Centers nationwide. Other changes included the use of national ID data and real-time performance tracking. Weekly data updates enabled accurate progress monitoring and informed implementation decisions, a shift from previous years when projections relied on static census data.
