The Kisumu and Nandi border region has been plunged into mourning following the discovery of the body of Nancy Akinyi Koiya, a 26-year-old mother of two and businesswoman who had reportedly gone missing after leaving her workplace earlier this week. Her death has sparked grief among relatives, friends, customers and residents, while police investigators work to establish what happened during the period between her disappearance and the discovery of her body. 

Nancy was reportedly operating a hotel and catering business at Kibigori Junction, a busy trading point situated around the border of Kisumu and Nandi counties. Her sudden disappearance therefore caused concern among those who knew her, particularly after she failed to return home.

According to reports published on September 3, 2026, Nancy's husband, Kiplagat Koiya, reported her missing to police after she did not return home from work. The family and members of the community subsequently began searching for her, hoping that she would be found alive. Sadly, the search ended with the discovery of her body.
