Gachagua Urges Mt Kenya to Boycott Artists Who Visited Kindiki
Former DP Rigathi Gachagua has urged Mt Kenya residents to boycott musicians who visited DP Kithure Kindiki, accusing them of betrayal. He claimed the artists aligned with political rivals and warned against playing their music. Gachagua also attacked one unnamed artist for allegedly spreading falsehoods about him.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has stirred controversy by urging Mt Kenya residents to boycott musicians who recently visited Deputy President Kithure Kindiki. Gachagua accused the artists of betraying the community by associating with political rivals.
The meeting, hosted by Kindiki on Friday, brought together top Mt Kenya musicians to discuss reforms in the creative industry, including tackling exploitative cartels and improving intellectual property protections. The artists also praised the new Social Health Insurance Fund during the talks.
However, Gachagua dismissed the engagement as politically motivated, calling it a "sellout move" by the artists. He warned clubs and fans against playing music from the visiting musicians, accusing them of siding with those trying to undermine the unity of the Mt Kenya region.
He further lashed out at one unnamed artist, accusing him of spreading lies and mocking his party. Gachagua questioned the artist’s credibility, referencing his education level and criticizing his political ambitions.
