Malala Warns Ruto Against Targeting Gachagua and Political Opponents
Cleophas Malala has warned President Ruto against arresting Rigathi Gachagua, saying it would provoke national outrage. He accused Ruto of silencing dissent and targeting former allies. Malala also held Ruto responsible for the security withdrawal of MP Jane Kihara.

Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) deputy party leader Cleophas Malala has issued a stern warning to President William Ruto, cautioning him against any attempts to arrest former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Speaking in Manyatta, Embu, Malala said such a move would provoke widespread public outrage and unrest, accusing Ruto of repeating the same intimidation tactics he once accused former President Uhuru Kenyatta of using.

Malala insisted that despite Ruto troubling Uhuru during his term as Deputy President, the former head of state never threatened him with arrest. He dared Ruto to try the same with Gachagua, warning that the reaction from Kenyans would be fierce. “If you are brave, arrest Rigathi Gachagua and see how Kenyans will respond,” he declared boldly.

The former UDA Secretary General also cited top former allies of Ruto, including Justin Muturi and Mithika Linturi, who have since fallen out with the president. He urged Kenyans to pay attention to such leaders, claiming their departures are a sign of Rutos failed leadership. “When former top officials say Kenya is in a bad place, it’s time to listen,” Malala emphasized.

Additionally, Malala condemned the recent withdrawal of security from Naivasha MP Jane Kihara, accusing Ruto of endangering political opponents. He held the president directly responsible for any harm that may befall her and demanded an explanation for the sudden move. “If anything happens to Kihara or others, Ruto will be accountable,” he stated.
