Ruto Backs Raila Deal, Slams Critics as Agents of Division
President William Ruto has defended his alliance with Raila Odinga, saying it promotes unity and development. He dismissed critics as divisive and focused on tribal politics. Ruto also announced the nearing completion of 4,600 affordable housing units in Kibra.
President William Ruto has strongly defended his working relationship with ODM leader Raila Odinga, brushing off critics whom he labeled as political detractors driven by tribalism and bitterness. While speaking at AIC Church in Kibra on Sunday, Ruto said the alliance with Raila is aimed at uniting Kenyans and fostering national development.
The President accused opposition leaders, including his former deputy Rigathi Gachagua, of fueling early campaigns and divisive rhetoric instead of focusing on progress. “We want unity, not endless politics. I thank my brother Raila Odinga for agreeing to join hands so we can unite the nation,” Ruto said.
ODM legislators who accompanied him, including MPs Sam Atandi and Anthony Oluoch, declared full support for Ruto’s leadership, signaling deeper cooperation between the two camps. “If Baba says left, it’s left,” Atandi affirmed, underscoring ODM’s alignment with the President’s direction.
Ruto also revealed that 4,600 affordable housing units in Kibra are near completion, part of a broader plan to replace slums with modern estates. “We want to transform Kibra from slums to dignified living. These houses will give you the respect you deserve,” he assured residents.
