TYPES OF CULTURAL INTERACTIONS.
Cultural interactions refers to interactive process between two or more cultures for example interactions between the kisii cultures and kipsigis cultures.There are various types of cultural interactions including:
1.Monoculturalism
This is when there is a dominant culture and all other cultures get absorbed in it.For example if the kipsigis culture was the dominant,the kisii cultures as the minority culture,the kisii culture get absorbed in the kipsigis culture by adopting their cultural norms.
2.Core culture
This is the situation when the minority culture maintains and holds their identity as long as they respect the central concepts of the society.
3.Biculturalism
This is when there is relationships and understanding of cultures,beliefs and norms between two cultures.
4.Melting pot.
This is when cultures are mixed and blended to become one society for example kipsigis community and kisii community combined together to form main society.
5.Multiculturalism
This refers to peaceful co existence between two or more cultures just as in the case of kipsigis culture and kisii cultures and their peaceful co existence.
Above are the various types of cultural interactions and it is very fundamental and crucial to students studying anthropology and any other culture related courses.The kipsigis culture and kisii culture have been used as examples to understand these types of cultural interactions.
