Diplomacy in Motion: President Ruto Embarks on Three-Nation European Tour to Unlock Markets and Investments
President William Ruto left Kenya on Sunday afternoon for official visits to Belgium and Norway, and a state visit to Finland. The trip aims to attract investment, expand market access for Kenyan products, and strengthen partnerships to boost exports, create jobs, and drive economic growth.
State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said that in Belgium, Ruto will meet King Philippe and Flanders' Minister-President Matthias Diependaele to discuss bilateral trade and investment. He will also hold talks with EU leaders, including European Council President António Costa and Parliament President Roberta Metsola, focusing on implementing the Kenya-EU Economic Partnership Agreement, which grants Kenyan exports duty-free and quota-free access to the European market.
In Norway, Ruto will attend the Kenya-Norway Business Forum to explore partnerships in renewable energy, electric mobility, the blue economy, and climate-smart agriculture.
The tour concludes in Finland, following an invitation from President Alexander Stubb, who made a historic state visit to Kenya in May 2025. Ruto will hold bilateral talks on education, technology, clean energy, health, and peace and security. He will also participate in the Kenya-Finland Business Forum and the Kultaranta Talks, a leading international security policy forum.
